A good work-life balance


Do you find yourself feeling guilty for missing your child's football match or the first day at school cause you got to work?Its a relevant feeling you feel like you are missing a chunk of their lives.Its hard to be missing in action but remember the reason you are going to work in the first place.I do not have solutions to make the guilt go away but I got a few pointers on things that can make you have a balanced.

Prioritise

It is always important to know what comes first.When you are at work, be fully engaged in the work activities.Make sure you use your time effectively.Maximise that 9-5 and have your things in order.Some times you have good days and some times they are bad days, its life.Just try not to carry work loads back home.

Schedules

Prepare a family calendar that has holidays, soccer practices and what not in it.Get some vacation time with your family.Squeeze in some romance time with your significant other.Do not forget to find some time for yourself.Some time to just chill watch a movie or go out for a run.Something you should do to reenergise.

Sacrifice

It takes a lot to be a parent.I look at my parents now and I can't help but be amazed at the things they sacrificed for us as kids.The sleepless nights they had when we were still babies, their presence at every game, every parents and teachers meeting not even mentioning the money they invested in us.Now that you are a parent you need to learn to sacrifce too.

Every time my husband goes back to work from lunch he says; "Goodbye alligators wouldn't want to be yuh".I always answer "yeah right".I know its not easy waking up every day, leaving us sleeping without complaining.Its a sacrifice that he makes everyday and we are truly grateful for.

Early to rise

Think one of the things I am learning as a new parent is that, sleep is a luxury hahaha.As a mother you are the last to sleep and the first to rise.Everything needs your attention and to be on top of your game you need to get a good start in the morning.

For some parents it is easier to pack things that you will need tomorrow the day before, for example pack the diaper bag or prepare the lunch boxes the night before.It is easier this way cause if you wake up late your list of things to do on that day will not be as much.

Your life's purpose

Always find your center, the place where its more than just family and work.It is where you find your inner peace, your purpose in life.For me my center is God.So many times I find myself struggling and I look up to the mountains from there comes my help.Its important to know your purpose in life to have a sense of fulfilment and direction.

Exercise

Lastly, exercise!Exercise makes you feel fresher and less tired so you will have more energy to give your best to your family or at work.A healthy diet and proper sleep also comes to play to have a relatively balanced healthy life.
